Fractions

 

To start Term Two in Maths we have completed a unit on Fractions. We had lots of fun learning about halves and quarters. We had to use materials to make fractions and tell how it was made and how we knew it was a fraction.

Lachie said,"I have made a quarter. I used lots of pegs to make it into four pieces. I know its a quarter because it has four pieces."

Maggie said," I made a quarter. I got some pegs and I made a straight line down, then I made a straight line in the middle. I made four squares."

Mia said,"I had made a quarter. I just put one line and then I put another line across. I know its a quarter because there are four squares."

Bella said,"I have made a quarter with my sandwich. I folded the piece of paper first and then I opened it up and folded it again. I knew it had quarters because it was a four and a four is a quarter."

Edie said,"I made quarters. I made them out of pegs. I made one straight line down the middle, and then I made one straight line across to the side. I know they are quarters because there are four pieces."
